Like A Bird Photography & Design bio picture

Welcome!

My goal here at Like A Bird Photography & Design is to give you that ONE IMAGE, you know the one..... The image that takes you back to the happiest day of your life, or that takes you back to that moment where you were laughing so hard you were crying, the moment that makes you cry tears of joy. Those are the moments in life that should forever be remembered. My style is fun, real and relaxed. These are photos that you will pass on through generations so why not make them GREAT.

On a more personal note, first and foremost I am a mommy to the most wonderful little girl Ava Michelle and a wife to the best hubby. I found myself with a camera in my hand at all times when my daughter was born. I always loved the art of photography but didn't harness my passion for it till 2007. My favorite part? Delivering those images to the customer and seeing their reactions. I love it when I hear "Oh my, that is sooooo her." or "You captured his smile PERFECTLY." That is what makes all the late night editing and HOT summer shoots worth it.

Baby Sarah (updated)

Last week I posted a quick sneak peek of little Sarah. Let me tell ya folks, she is sooooo sweet. She never made a peep the whole shoot. Even with all of the annoying moving and posing we did with her. She was 2 weeks old for the shoot. She was so strong, so aware and so not sleepy :)
I enjoyed every second of this one! ENJOY!

Meet little Miss Sarah……

Just wanted to post a little peek into this precious newborn session from yesterday. She was such a doll!

Once yearly snowfall…..

It’s happened the past couple of years now….. One day here in central Texas where we get a couple of inches of snow. Ava loves the snow. She doesn’t mind the frozen hands or runny nose. She would stay out in it all day if I would let her. Our morning was filled with snowball fights, a nice walk (she wanted to explore) and a half made snow man(she lost interest half way through and went back to pelting her daddy with snow).

Here are just a few photos of my little princess this morning.

Real Life Superheroes

We run into them everyday, our military men & women, police officers and fire fighters, people that carry the weight of the world on their shoulders to make other peoples lives better. A lot of times we don’t recognize these heroes as much as we should, or these people are demonized in the press. In today’s world celebrities and athletes are depicted and hailed as “heroes”, and this saddens me. I want my little girl to grow up idolizing and appreciating the people that protect us everyday. Not “who wore it better” in US Weekly.

Veterans Day is this Thursday (11-11-10) and we should ALL remember who the real heroes are/were in this world.

Sometimes heroes arrive in other forms. In this instance meet 2 superhero parents. They wake up everyday and LIVE for their children. To all you superhero parents out there, keep up the good work!

We are now on Thumbtack!

WOW! His eyes are gonna be lady killers!

Bedtime stories

Ava loves bedtime stories. Every night we brush teeth, put on our jammies and curl up in Ava’s bed and read a couple of books. That was before this week folks. This week Ava’s bedtime routine was changed by a little thing called an iPad. Dan got one for work purposes but that didn’t stop Avie from having a little fun with it. Daddy let her pick out 3 books to put on it (to start with).

Don’t mind the stickers on Dans face, that’s totally normal around here ;)

Here were her picks……

- Sleeping Beauty

- Toy Story 3

- Cinderella

Here is what I saw……

Life is full of color…..

Oh my goodness it was such a nice day outside today! So nice in fact we took Ava’s art supplies outside and decided to spend the afternoon painting. She loves any type of arts and crafts and she loves it even more when there aren’t any rules. No, I don’t make her color inside the lines. No, I don’t make her keep her playdoh colors separate, and YES, I do let her mix any and all paint colors! Who am I to tell her what her art should look like? Her and I both appreciate the lack of boundaries when it comes to creating something. It makes it that more special and that more fun! Here is a glimpse of what I saw…..

A girl in a cotton patch

I couldn’t resist!

We are surrounded by cotton fields and I have been wanting to take my girl out for photos. The outfit she had on was too perfect. Ava was so sweet to give me 10 minutes on the side of the road the other week.  I loved how they turned out.

Skinny Dippin ;)

Lazy summer days are now coming to an end. School is starting, life here is moving at a blazing speed and I constantly have to remind myself to slow down. As we sat in the backyard and watched these kiddos play, I wished that I had the power to stop time.

This is a taste of what I saw…….
