Electricity? What’s that?
Last night we got a ton of rain….. and with that rain came high winds…….. and with the two of those combined WE LOST POWER! So what do you do on a morning with no power on in the house. You spend the morning eating breakfast on the patio, playing in the yard and laughing with each other till we cry! Ava was so funny this morning. She was cracking me up. The best part was, she was cracking herself up! Here is what I saw……
Witnessing a Miracle!!!!
Today was an epic day. It was a day full of smiles, tears, laughs, silence, stillness and MIRACLES! Today I had the honor and privilege to photograph my first birthing session. Having said that, it was even more special and important to me because it was my sister and brother-in-laws MIRACLE. I have to be honest, I think I was more nervous about the whole thing than Liz was. She had complete confidence in me, but I was all twisty inside thinking about how un-intrusive I wanted to be, what lens to use, what the day was going to be like……..
As the doctor got dressed into her delivery scrubs, the room got silent. I swear at moments I thought you could hear my heart beating out of my chest. I was SO EXCITED! It was a flood of emotion all at once. And then……. you heard it….. the sound of a newborn baby taking his first breath into this world. Tears flooded my eyes through the viewfinder of my camera….. It was exciting, it was emotional, it was EPIC!
Sam & Liz, I am truly blessed to have this opportunity……. there were too many of my favorites to count. I put some of my favorites in a slideshow.

Hey blog stalkers! Here at Like A Bird, I am coming off of a week of highs……. Had great sessions with great people, enjoyed QUALITY time with my family, and we are closing in on the finishing stages of a home renovation! YIPPPEEEEEEE!!!!!
Wanted to give everyone a sneak peek of a session that was held this morning. Meet Kristen. She has been attending SFA this year and is transferring to the University of Texas in the fall. She is trying out for the cheer squad in April and to do so they require a head shot and a body shot. This session was quick and easy! (Just how I like ‘em!)

Meet Owen……
This, my internet friends is Owen! This kid is so much fun to have around. He is sweet, full of life, super fast and makes me laugh. Owen is Ava’s (my little girl) BFF. They have basically grown up together and without a doubt will be friends for life.
Okay, I dared to be different and tried something new today. I shot an entire kid session with a 50 1.4! YES you read right. As I am sitting here writing this right now I am shocked that I pulled it off. I thought I would challenge myself on my feet. No zoom-No comfort zone. I shoot Ava a lot with my 50mm, but she isn’t as quick as Owen. Let me tell ya, this boy can move. One moment he’s here, the next he’s there. All in all it was a successful attempt. Got some great shots.

Snow Day!!!!!
Today was a surprise! Sunday was the PERFECT day here in Central Texas. I am talking Sunny and 80 degrees PERFECT! Today (2 days later)…… 32 degrees and SNOWING! Go figure huh?!? I took my princess out to the park to play. Of course I had my camera in hand. This is what I saw…….
